What the work involves.
A deck that has gone gray has not necessarily gone bad. Most of the time the surface has oxidised and the old finish has failed, and underneath there is sound wood that has never been touched.
We strip back to that wood, let it dry properly, and then seal it. Semi transparent lets the grain read through rather than hiding it; solid covers boards that are past showing their figure. Which one your deck wants is a judgement call we make together after we see it clean.
We also tell you honestly when a deck has gone too far. Boards with soft spots and split rails cost more to prepare than they cost to replace, and refinishing them buys a season rather than a decade.

We look at the job and put honest pricing in writing. For anything involving color, you approve a physical sample before we start. Then we prep, protect and finish, and walk it with you before we leave.
When you get the deck back.
The part nobody mentions is the waiting. Stain needs to cure before furniture and feet come back on it, and rushing that is how a new finish gets ruined in a week.
- Off it for a day or twoExpect to stay off the boards while it cures. We give you the number before we start, and it depends on the product and the weather that week.
- Furniture and grill moved and returnedWe move what is on the deck, work around what cannot be moved, and put everything back when the finish is ready for it.
- Pets off until it is hardPaws pick up a soft finish faster than shoes do. Plan a day or two where the dog uses another door.
- Weather decidesWe will not seal over damp wood or ahead of rain. If the week turns, the date moves and you hear it the same day.

In this climate, roughly every two to four years for semi transparent finishes and longer for solid. South and west facing boards go first.
Going darker is straightforward. Going lighter means stripping back further, which we will quote honestly rather than promise cheaply.
